Terms of service

Last updated: May 26, 2026 · Effective: January 1, 2026

These terms govern your use of CheckYourself, a macOS application published by Jamlabs Data Science Inc. ("Jamlabs," "we," "our," "us"). Distribution and purchase through the Mac App Store are also governed by Apple's Standard EULA for App Store applications, which applies in addition to these terms.

1. The license

Subject to your compliance with these terms and the applicable subscription tier, Jamlabs grants you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use CheckYourself on Macs you own or control. This license does not transfer ownership of any intellectual property in the application.

2. Subscription tiers

CheckYourself offers three tiers:

  • Free. Unlimited use of the application with a "VOID" watermark on all printed and exported output. Intended for evaluation and alignment testing on real paper.
  • Monthly subscription. $2.99 USD per month, billed through your Apple ID, removing the VOID watermark and enabling production-ready output. Renews automatically until cancelled.
  • Annual subscription. $29.99 USD per year, with the same features as the monthly tier at a 17% discount. Renews automatically until cancelled.

The figures above show pricing for the United States (USD) and Canada (CAD). For other regions, Apple bills in your local currency at the nearest regional pricing tier. Pricing is subject to change with at least 30 days' notice before the change applies to your subscription.

3. Billing and cancellation

All subscriptions are billed by Apple to the payment method on file with your Apple ID. You can cancel any time from System Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions on your Mac. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period; paid features remain available until then.

Refund requests are handled by Apple, not Jamlabs, in accordance with Apple's policies. Request a refund at reportaproblem.apple.com.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to use CheckYourself to:

  • Print cheques on accounts you do not own, control, or have explicit written authorization to draw against;
  • Commit fraud, forgery, identity theft, or any other unlawful act;
  • Reproduce or alter security features beyond what the application provides for its intended use;
  • Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code or embedded fonts from the application except where such activity is expressly permitted by law;
  • Use the application in a way that violates your bank's terms of service or your local jurisdiction's regulations on cheque issuance.

You are solely responsible for the legality and accuracy of every cheque you produce. The application is a tool; the obligations of a cheque drawer remain with you.

5. Bank compatibility — no guarantee

CheckYourself's output conforms to ANSI X9.100-20 (US) and CPA Standard 006 (Canada), and is designed to clear standard bank deposit, mobile deposit, ATM imaging, and ACH processes. However, individual banks and credit unions set their own policies on accepting non-bank-printed cheques. Jamlabs makes no guarantee that any specific bank will accept any specific cheque, and is not liable for losses arising from a bank's refusal to clear a cheque produced with the application.

6. No financial or legal advice

CheckYourself is software for producing cheques. It does not provide financial advice, accounting advice, legal advice, or tax advice. The information in our website, FAQ, and support materials is provided for general informational purposes only and should not be relied upon as professional advice.

7. Trust, IOLTA, and regulated accounts

The application supports separate registers for trust, retainer, IOLTA, and similar regulated accounts. However, regulations on the form and handling of trust-account cheques vary by jurisdiction. You are responsible for confirming with your regulator that personally-printed cheques are acceptable for any regulated use.

8. Disclaimer of warranties

CHECKYOURSELF IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION ANY IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT. JAMLABS DOES NOT WARRANT THAT THE APPLICATION WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR COMPATIBLE WITH ANY SPECIFIC HARDWARE, PRINTER, BANK, OR REGULATORY FRAMEWORK.

9. Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, JAMLABS' AGGREGATE LIABILITY ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THESE TERMS OR THE APPLICATION SHALL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU HAVE PAID JAMLABS FOR THE APPLICATION IN THE TWELVE MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM, OR (B) FIFTY US DOLLARS. JAMLABS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING LOST PROFITS, LOST DATA, OR BANK FEES.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain damages; in those jurisdictions, the above limitations apply to the maximum extent permitted by law.

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Jamlabs, its directors, officers, and employees from any claim, loss, or expense (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of your misuse of the application or violation of these terms.

11. Termination

You may stop using the application at any time. Jamlabs may suspend or terminate your license if you materially violate these terms; if so, sections 4, 8, 9, 10, and 13 survive termination.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be announced inside the app and on this website at least 30 days before they take effect. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.

13. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. The parties agree to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in Toronto, Ontario for any dispute that is not subject to mandatory arbitration under the Apple Standard EULA.
